Yunus Emre Institute Teaches Turkish to 91,000 People in 68 Countries

The Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) continued its mission in 2024 to promote and spread Turkish language and culture globally by educating approximately 91,000 individuals in 68 countries through 92 offices.

Expansion of Cultural Centers and Language Training

In 2024, YEE enhanced its efforts by establishing 4 new cultural centers in different countries, expanding its reach and activities. The Institute's cultural diplomacy initiatives now span across 92 cultural centers in 68 countries within six regions.

Turkish Language Education Initiatives

Throughout the year, YEE provided Turkish language training to close to 40,000 students through various methods, including face-to-face and online courses. The "My Preference is Turkish Project" aimed to introduce Turkish as an elective or compulsory foreign language in schools, resulting in about 41,000 students learning Turkish.

Support for Turkology and Cultural Events

The "Turkology Project" supported Turkology departments globally, enabling the training of Turkish language experts. In 2024, approximately 10,000 students benefited from this project. Moreover, YEE organized over 1,000 cultural events worldwide, showcasing Turkish culture through panels, exhibitions, performances, and concerts.

Global Cultural Outreach and New Centers

By opening its first cultural center in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and a second in Islamabad, Pakistan, at the close of 2024, YEE expanded its presence. The "Breezes of Anatolia Turkish Jazz Music Tour" combined Anatolian melodies with jazz in a series of events across six Balkan countries.

President Aliy's Statements and Future Goals

YEE President Abdurrahman Aliy highlighted the Institute's dedication to promoting Turkish language and culture globally. He emphasized the importance of cultural activities and collaborations, noting the increase in Türkiye's friends due to shared heritage. Looking ahead to 2025, Aliy aims to continue expanding YEE's impact and fostering friendships through cultural exchange.
