Kızılay Launches New Projects in Syria Targeting War Victims
Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) President Fatma Meriç Yılmaz announced the initiation of new projects in Syria aimed at addressing the needs of war victims, with a special focus on women and disadvantaged groups. Collaborating with the Syrian Red Crescent, these projects will provide support such as psychosocial assistance and minor home repairs, among other services.
Kızılay's Vital Role in Providing Aid During the Syrian Crisis
Since the onset of the Syrian crisis, Kızılay has played a crucial role in delivering humanitarian aid, working closely with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) to assist those affected by the conflict. The organization has expanded its operations to various regions, including Aleppo, Manbij, Tal Rifaat, Afrin, Azez, Jarablus, and Idlib, following the fall of the Bashar Assad regime.
Kızılay's Border Assistance Program and Humanitarian Efforts
Through its Border Assistance Program, Kızılay has provided meals, food supplies, and beverages to Syrians who have voluntarily returned to their country. The organization has distributed a substantial amount of aid, including over 15,000 food parcels, 584,000 food items, and 10.6 million kilograms of flour, benefiting more than 566,000 individuals.
Winter Assistance and Essential Support Provided by Kızılay
In addition to food aid, Kızılay has offered winter assistance to 386,816 people, clean water, and hygiene kits to 127,152 individuals, as well as essential items like diapers to 52,770 individuals. These efforts aim to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable populations and provide them with the necessary support for survival.
Challenges Ahead and Collaborative Efforts for Reconstruction
Despite the significant contributions made by Kızılay, President Yılmaz emphasized the magnitude of the challenges that lie ahead in rebuilding Syria. She highlighted the importance of international support, with countries like Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia pledging funding for reconstruction efforts. Türkiye, along with its operational expertise, is poised to translate this financial support into tangible actions on the ground.
