Investigation Team Sent to Probe Azerbaijan Airlines Plane Crash in Kazakhstan

Turkey has dispatched an eight-member team to investigate the recent crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) passenger plane near Aktau, Kazakhstan. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu made the announcement late Friday regarding the mission.

Formation of the Investigative Team

Minister Uraloğlu revealed that the team was assembled following a request from Azerbaijan's State Civil Aviation Agency. The primary objective of the team is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the crash site and provide technical and operational assistance in determining the root cause of the tragic incident.

Collaboration with Local Authorities

Uraloğlu emphasized that the expert team from Turkey would closely collaborate with local authorities in Baku to ensure a thorough investigation. The findings of the team will be meticulously documented and reported for further actions.

Commencement of the Investigation

The investigative team is scheduled to depart for Baku on Friday evening and commence their work on Saturday, focusing on unraveling the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Minister Uraloğlu reiterated Turkey's unwavering support and solidarity with Azerbaijan during this challenging time. He extended sincere condolences to the families of the victims and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the Azerbaijani people.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The unfortunate crash resulted in the loss of 38 lives, while 29 individuals survived after the Embraer 190 aircraft performed an emergency landing near Aktau, Kazakhstan. The aircraft had initially departed from Baku, heading to Grozny in Russia's Chechnya region, before encountering the tragic turn of events over the Caspian Sea.
