The Touristic Tuz Express embarked on a special journey on December 3rd with the aim of raising awareness about inclusivity and accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

Unique Experience for Disabled Participants

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 101 disabled individuals took part in this exceptional initiative to experience a memorable train journey.

Dignitaries Attend Send-Off Ceremony

The departure ceremony at Ankara Railway Station was graced by the presence of Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu and Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.

Building a Society Without Barriers

Minister Uraloğlu emphasized the significance of the Touristic Tuz Express project in fostering empathy and understanding towards disabled citizens, promoting a society that is free of obstacles.

Exploring Çankırı's Rich Heritage

The train journeyed to Çankırı, a city in central Türkiye, where passengers had the opportunity to explore historical and cultural sites, including the ancient underground salt city.

Efforts for Inclusive Transportation

The government's commitment to inclusivity is evident through initiatives like the Accessible Transportation Strategy and Action Plan (2021-2025), which has benefitted over 7.4 million disabled passengers since 2017.

Enhanced Accessibility in Transportation Systems

Transport systems like Marmaray and Başkentray have implemented features such as Braille signage and audio information systems to assist visually impaired passengers, while wheelchair-friendly facilities have been integrated into trains.

Accessibility Innovations in Airports

Efforts extend to airports, with 40 of them receiving accessibility certificates. Istanbul Airport, for example, provides live consultations through digital kiosks and sign language services.

Empowering Disabled Travelers

The forthcoming “Mobility of All” app is set to further enhance the travel experience for disabled users by addressing challenges through features like feedback modules and sign language call centers.
