Stratcom Summit 2024 to Explore the Impact of AI on Communication

The fourth annual "Stratcom: International Strategic Communication Summit" is set to take place in Istanbul on December 13-14, focusing on the theme, “AI in Communication: Trends, Traps, and Transition.” This summit, known as Türkiye's largest communication event, will gather prominent international figures in the field to delve into the changes in communication propelled by artificial intelligence (AI).

High-profile Speakers to Address the Summit

The summit will kick off with opening speeches by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Fahrettin Altun, the head of the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will also be in attendance, among other distinguished guests.

Insightful Discussions on AI and Communication

United Nations Global Communications Chief Melissa Fleming will deliver a video message, while insights will be shared by Akif Çağatay Kılıç, senior advisor to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on foreign policy and security, Azerbaijani Vice President Hikmet Hajiyev, and communication officials from various countries. The summit will span two days, delving into the impact of AI on the communication landscape and exploring both the opportunities and challenges presented by new technologies.

Diverse Topics to Be Covered

Stratcom Summit 2024 will encompass a broad spectrum of topics, including public communication, innovative communication strategies, journalism, digital media, diplomacy, combating disinformation, crisis management, digital ethics, and cybersecurity.

International Participation and Varied Sessions

The summit will host 64 expert speakers hailing from public and private sectors, civil society, media, academia, and think tanks from 30 different countries. With eight panels, four keynote speeches, and six one-on-one sessions, the event is expected to draw over 3,000 local and international attendees.

Attendees will comprise communication professionals from diverse sectors, including public institutions, private enterprises, civil society, think tanks, academics, and university students. Speaking about the event, Altun emphasized the global nature of the summit, highlighting side events such as a Hackathon, StratcomYouth, Disaster Communication, and Stratcom Academy.

Altun expressed pride in bringing together ministers, communication experts, and leading scholars in Istanbul, noting the theme's focus on AI as a pivotal development. He stressed the revolutionary potential of AI in communication, while cautioning about the accompanying risks that necessitate thoughtful consideration.

Altun anticipates that the discussions at Stratcom 2024 will foster international collaboration, promote knowledge exchange, and encourage solution-oriented approaches to address the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies.
