The Renovation of Atlı Köşk

After undergoing a meticulous nine-month restoration process, the historic Atlı Köşk within the Sakıp Sabancı Museum has reopened its doors to art enthusiasts on December 7.

The renovated Atlı Köşk now showcases updated presentations of its Arts of the Book and Calligraphy Collection, Painting Collection, and Furniture and Decorative Arts Collection, offering visitors a unique and enriched experience with new acquisitions.

A Dynamic Collection

The renewed installation at Atlı Köşk reflects the museum's vision of a vibrant and living collection, bringing previously unseen artworks to the forefront. Extensive research on the Furniture and Decorative Arts Collection sheds new light on the history of the building and the context of its collections, both in physical displays and digital platforms.

Every aspect of the restoration, from carpets and chandeliers to clocks, furniture, and manuscripts, was executed with precision, while also incorporating improvements to enhance the building's earthquake resistance.

Digital Enrichment

In addition to the physical reopening, the Sakıp Sabancı Museum has expanded its digital archive platform, digitalSSM, with a significant increase in accessible works across various collections, providing a valuable resource for art history enthusiasts.

Visitors exploring the Arts of the Book and Calligraphy Collection galleries can now use QR codes on selected labels to access complete pages and covers of manuscripts on their personal devices, offering a more immersive encounter with the artworks.
