iOS 18 Update Brings Exciting New Features to Compatible iPhones
Apple is set to release the iOS 18 update, most likely on September 16th around 8:00 PM UTC, to compatible iPhones. After more than three months of beta testing, the final version of iOS 18 will finally be rolled out.
Customize Your Home Screen with iOS 18
iOS 18 offers customization options for your home screen, allowing you to recolor app icons with Dark and Colorful choices. You can also adjust app icons to appear larger without text labels beneath them.
Redesigned Control Center
In iOS 18, the Control Center has been redesigned to be more customizable, enabling you to rearrange and resize controls across multiple pages, similar to the Home Screen.
Exciting iMessage Updates
iOS 18 introduces new iMessage features such as using any emoji as a Tapback reaction, new text effects like 'Slam' and 'Loud', and enhanced messaging with Android devices through RCS support.
Revamped Photos App
With iOS 18, Apple has made the biggest design overhaul to the Photos app to date. In addition to a redesigned welcome screen, new AI-powered features like 'Clean Up' to remove unwanted objects from photos have been added.
Lock and Hide All Apps with Face ID
iOS 18 allows you to lock all apps, including Photos, with Face ID, Touch ID, or your iPhone passcode. You also have the option to hide apps, keeping them separate in a locked folder.
Passwords App for Enhanced Security
iOS 18 introduces a standalone Passwords app, bringing all your online account passwords, WiFi passwords, access codes, and more under one roof for easy access. You can also identify weak or compromised accounts in a dedicated 'Security Recommendations' section.
Gaming Mode for Enhanced Performance
iOS 18 brings the gaming mode from Mac to iPhones, optimizing background activities for improved frame rates, reducing AirPods audio latency, and providing a better gaming experience with wireless controllers.
Hide Distractions with Safari
The new "Hide Distraction Items" feature integrated into Safari allows you to hide elements like newsletter sign-up forms and cookie permissions on websites. Apple emphasizes that this feature is not designed as an ad blocker.
iOS 18 Device Compatibility
Apple will roll out the iOS 18 update to iPhone XS and newer models. The iOS 18.1 update, which brings Apple Intelligence features, will be available for iPhone 15 Pro and later models.
