Rehabilitation Center in Syria Provides Treatment for War-Affected Children
A rehabilitation center established by the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) in the Azaz district of Syria’s Aleppo province has been offering crucial treatment to nearly 60,000 children impacted by war since its inception in 2016.
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services
The center provides a range of rehabilitation services including psychology, psychophysics, physical therapy, and audiology, as stated by Ibrahim Gümüş, the TDV’s Syria field coordinator.
Addressing Vital Needs in the Region
Gümüş emphasized the center's vital role as the sole provider of free rehabilitation services in the area, with a dedicated team of specialists and assistants catering to the needs of the children.
Challenges Faced by War-Affected Children
Many children treated at the center suffer from hearing impairments due to the impact of warplanes, while others face psychological challenges resulting from the difficult circumstances experienced during the conflict.
Support for Traumatized Children and Parents
The specialists at the center not only focus on the children's recovery but also provide guidance to parents who are themselves struggling to communicate and support their children through the healing process.
Expansion Plans and Increased Capacity
Looking ahead, Gümüş revealed plans to open a new rehabilitation center with a prosthetics department to further expand their services and double the daily treatment capacity from 30 to 60 individuals, demonstrating the commitment to helping more war-affected children on their path to recovery.
